His day started off at Challenge 4 Change where they had speical guests in the form of the Salford City Reds Rugby League team (lucky him!). Unfortunately I couldn't make this session but Dan tells me it went very well.. I'm sure he will post the photo of him and the players at a later date.
After lunch, myself and Sue Peel (head coach of Vikings Wheelchair Basketball team) had a treat for Dan.. we took him shopping to the Trafford Centre! Now, I know shopping with two women is hard work enough for some men but Dan had the added complication of being in the chair and having to dodge the crowds of people, manoeuvre through the sometimes very unhelpful layouts in the shops and also tackle how to reach things that are on higher shelves etc.. Both Sue and I knew that this would be highly entertaining but I don't think either of us knew how much we would laugh! Fellow Vikings players Danny O'Connor and Martin Norris also joined us and after lunch in Pizza Hut, where the lovely staff contributed to our fundraising we decided to spend some money in the arcade. The first challenge for Dan was having to ask a passer by to put the money in the slot machine for him...
Then, being the dare devils that they are, Sue, Danny and Dan all decided that a ride on the dodgems was a good idea, the challenge being transferring into the cars from their chairs and also for Dan.. the challenge of getting away from Danny and Sue!...
It was a fun day and we achieved our goal of raising a small amount of money from some of the kind shops we visited. I think I've rambled on enough for now so..
Roll on Day Four ;)
